Seeing the devastating outcome of Italy's earthquake with so many injured, deceased and homeless has prompted Mission Beach Interact (MBI) to donate $200 from funds raised at the Rotary Monster Markets.
Hot on the heels of the magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Bowen a week previously in which thankfully  no one was hurt, to be able to provide help, even in some small way, seemed like the right thing to do. "This is to help others in need when they need it the most and to get Italy back to how it should be", said club president Latisha Smallman.
The funds have been donated to ShelterBox Australia, an organisation which provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis.
MBI is a youth organisation for 12-18 year olds and is part of Rotary International.
