Tully High School student Brad Figallo will soon be heading from Mission Beach to Brazil on a one year Rotary Youth Exchange.

“Brazil will be amazing, I am learning some Portuguese and should know soon which city I will be living in and more about my host family.  We also do an Amazon Safari Tour with other YEP students, which I am looking forward to.  Thank you Rotary and all the friends and locals that supported my fund raising efforts”, says Brad.

Brad went to Mission Beach State School and is finishing Year 12 at Tully State High School. Mission Beach Rotary has supported Brad and his family through the process of applying and securing a place on the 2013 Rotary International Youth Exchange Program.

“Rotary’s YEP is a great opportunity for community leaders of the future.  It is a real life changing experience, its educational, and a super way for our youth to experience other countries and cultures.” Ru Carslake, Mission Beach Rotary YEP Co-ordinator.

The Youth Exchange Program (YEP) is arranged by Rotary Club’s for young people to experience a year’s education overseas, in a wide choice of countries.  Any boy or girl between the ages of 16years and 18 years and 6 months can apply.  Selection is not exclusive to sons or daughters of Rotary members.

Now is the time of year people consider applying to the Rotary YEP.  Any interested applicants can start by contacting Mission Beach Rotary or visiting their website at www.rotarymb.org for information.

Brad departs for Brazil on 15th January and tells us that amongst his luggage will be proudly packed an Australian flag and a Wallabies shirt.

         Boa Viagem Brad!
